“I think for our generation there’s this tantalizing quality of seeing young people succeed and the very notion of success is kind of twisted inherently. If you see someone your own age on Disney Channel or something like that and you go “Dude, this bitch SUCKS!” and feel like “Man, I’m doing homework and doing all this crap when I could be making a living, doing my thing!” There is one thing, and you can quote me on this, there is no better inspiration than being completely appalled. If you see something that’s awful, it gets you so hyped up. I see everything. I see every movie. I go to the theater all the time, and you hope for the good ones, but the bad ones are great, too. Because when you see bad shit, you can really evaluate for yourself why it didn’t hit you in an effective way, why you didn’t like it, maybe what parts of you are different from that, and really find whatever “good” means to you.”
